packet loss
PerformanceDefinition
Packet loss is the percentage of network packets that fail to reach their destination. Even small amounts (1-2%) cause noticeable rubberbanding, missed hits, and delayed input. Packet loss is more disruptive than high ping because the client cannot interpolate over missing data. Most competitive titles display a packet-loss icon when loss exceeds a threshold.
Example
"I'm getting 4% packet loss — that's why my abilities aren't registering." Lost packets explain the missing-input symptoms.
