DOOM (1993)

The original DOOM, developed and self-published by id Software and first released as shareware for MS-DOS on December 10, 1993. A genre-defining first-person shooter: the nameless Doomguy battles demons from Hell across episodic levels of fast gunplay. Supports up to 4-player co-op and deathmatch — originally over LAN and modem, online in the 2019 enhanced re-release on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and mobile. No ranked ladder and no formal esports scene, but a foundational speedrunning community.
