Definition

Tactical FPS is the genre of round-based, utility-driven first-person shooters: Counter-Strike, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, and (loosely) Escape from Tarkov. Tactical FPS distinguish themselves from arena and battle-royale FPS via short rounds, no respawn, money/economy systems, and utility-heavy strategy. The genre's competitive scene is the deepest in esports.
