mute
Social GamingDefinition
To mute is to silence a teammate or opponent's chat or voice in-game. Muting is the recommended first response to toxicity because it preserves the muter's mental state and often stops escalation. Most games separate text mute and voice mute, allowing fine control. Mute is preferable to engagement and complementary to a report.
Example
"Muted the flamer — much better game now." Silencing the toxic teammate restored the player's focus.
