Elo hell
MatchmakingDefinition
Elo hell is the disputed claim that certain rank tiers (typically Bronze and Silver) are systematically harder to climb out of due to bad teammates. Riot, Valve, and Blizzard have all stated that with a 51%+ win rate any player will eventually climb. Behavioral data supports the dev position, but the perception of Elo hell persists because tilted streaks feel systemic.
Example
"I'm stuck in Elo hell — Silver 2 forever." The player is frustrated with the difficulty of climbing from a low rank.
