Definition

Boosting is paying or asking another player to play on your account so it gains rank. Boosting is against the terms of service in every major ranked game because it pollutes matchmaking quality and harms the customer experience for legitimate players in the boosted account's true skill bracket. Boosting is detected by behavioral fingerprints and IP/device tracking.

Example

"That Diamond profile has Iron-tier mechanics — looks boosted." The account's rank does not match the player's visible skill, suggesting a third party climbed it.
