Glicko-2
MatchmakingDefinition
Glicko-2 is a rating system developed by Mark Glickman that improves on Elo by tracking rating volatility (how confident the system is in a player's rating) and player inactivity. Counter-Strike 2 Premier, Splatoon 3, and many fighting game ladders use Glicko-2 or near-variants. The system penalizes inconsistent results less harshly than Elo when uncertainty is high.
Example
"Glicko-2 explains why my CS2 rating moves more after a comeback than after a stomp." The system reacts to result confidence, not just outcome.
