healer

Definition

A healer is a character whose primary job is to restore teammate health. Healers are a distinct role in MMOs (WoW, FFXIV) and hero shooters (Overwatch Support category includes pure healers like Mercy and Ana; Marvel Rivals Strategists). In MOBAs healing is usually a sub-mechanic of the support role rather than a separate role.

Example

"We need a healer for this raid — going in with no sustain is suicide." The team lacks the role required to keep the group alive.
