IGL

Team Roles

Definition

IGL stands for In-Game Leader. The IGL calls strategy, mid-round adapts, and reads opponents. The role is most formal in Counter-Strike and Valorant, where strategy depth requires a dedicated decision-maker. IGLs often have lower personal stats because they sacrifice individual rating for team coordination — but their teams win more.

Example

"He's our IGL — that's why his K/D is lower but our win rate is higher." The player calls plays at the cost of personal frags.
