A lurker is a player who plays away from their team, looking for flanks, info, or late-round picks. Lurkers manipulate enemy rotations and create map pressure that helps their team's main push. Counter-Strike popularized the role — players like s1mple and ZywOo lurk extensively. The role requires patience, map sense, and clutch ability.

Example

"Their lurker keeps catching our rotators in mid." The opposing player operates away from his team and picks off rotations.
