peel

Definition

To peel is to disengage and protect a vulnerable teammate from incoming damage, usually a carry or healer. Peeling involves tank-stunning, displacing, or distracting the threat. The term comes from "peeling away" from the front line. Peeling is most explicit in MOBAs and hero shooters where back-line protection determines team-fight outcomes.

Example

"Peel for our ADC — he's getting dove." The support is asked to protect the carry from a diving assassin.
