playstyle

Social Gaming

Definition

Playstyle is the bundle of tendencies that defines how a player approaches a game — aggressive vs. passive, mechanical vs. macro, objective-focused vs. fight-focused, controller vs. duelist preference. Playstyle compatibility is one of the strongest predictors of duo and team success: two skilled players with mismatched playstyles often perform worse than two slightly-less-skilled players with aligned styles.

Example

"Our playstyles match — I'm aggressive, you're passive — that balances out." The pair's complementary tendencies work as a unit.
