Definition

A promo (promotion series) is a short series of matches a player must win to advance to the next ranked division or tier. The most common formats are best-of-3 (for division promotions) and best-of-5 (for tier promotions). Promo series have been simplified or removed in many modern games because they were widely seen as adding stress without improving accuracy.

Example

"I'm in my Diamond promos — please don't queue me with a Gold smurf right now." The player is in a high-stakes series for a tier promotion.
