SBMM
MatchmakingDefinition
SBMM is short for Skill-Based Matchmaking. It is matchmaking that uses each player's measured skill rating to form balanced lobbies, instead of random assignment or connection-based matching. SBMM is standard in ranked modes and increasingly common in casual modes, where it has become controversial: many casual players say SBMM makes pub games feel like ranked.
Example
"I just want to chill in pubs, but SBMM keeps putting me in sweaty lobbies." The player is complaining that even casual modes use skill-based matchmaking.
